Hi New Friends!
My name is Susie and I’m a pretty and pretty famous bichon. The pretty part you can see from my photos so now on to the famous part. Well you see I was a little pup (12 pounds) with a huge mass (2½ pounds if you please) who was left at a shelter. I was so sick and scared and ready to give up. I had been living that way for many, many months. At the shelter I then developed this thing called pneumonia. (That’s even scary for a healthy pup) but… here comes the good part: My BFK Aunties swooped in, brought me out of that shelter, arranged for my surgeries and told people about me (that’s the famous part!) I was rescued!
I am now 10 pounds and 8 years old. My foster Mom says since my surgery my tail never stops wagging– and I’m feeling so much better that I really want attention. One of the things I do to get attention is to jump up on my hind legs and ‘gently’ tap you on the arm (It works ‘cause I’m so cute!) I’ve also got my “spirit” back –and I’ve become a bit of a tease. I particularly like finding my doggy foster sister’s favorite toys… and stealing them! I take them to my bed and proudly display them for the world – and her- to see. (She wants to steal them back, of course, so it’s game on!) – However I am a bit of a darling diva so I’d really prefer to have my own toys and no other doggy companions in my home.
Dad says I’ve also become a bit of a social butterfly recently. (I tell him I’m not a butterfly at all – I’m a FurKid!) Well, I was at a party with lots of the people they call adults and I had an amazing time going from person to person and lap to lap. There weren’t any children there however my BFK Aunties don’t believe I will be good with children but I certainly do well with adults.
At 8 years of age I have a lot more adventures and experiences ahead of me and I can’t wait to have them with my forever family.

Mom says she loves the way I lay quietly and contentedly next to her while she works on her computer or stops to read a book. She says I’m a major cuddler who is a little goofy, sweet, loyal, fun, a little silly and very smart. I’m mostly housebroken, LOVE to walk and ride in the car, am learning commands and want to please! And did I mention that I’m just the right size to take anywhere? I can travel by train, plane or car and want to be your bestest companion, always!
It doesn’t seem possible but just a few weeks ago I lost my family and my home. They weren’t able to care for me, I had lived outside and not been groomed in a long time (as you could see from my shelter picture.) They took me to a shelter and said goodbye – but I got lucky and became a FurKid! Now I’m clean and comfortable and my silky white hair is growing back in. You can probably tell that I’m a resilient little guy. Mom and Dad said to let you know I am also amazingly adaptable pup who is filled only with love– and just waiting for a family who will love me as much, and as unconditionally, as I will love them!
My Ideal Home:

Meet Sweet and Sociable Star. This adorable Havanese girl loves to walk, ride in the car, is good with other dogs, people and even strangers. She is a gentle and ‘chill’ girl who deserves the bestest home ever. Soon Star will begin her eighth year and we know this will be the best one yet!
As a result of both of Star’s Dads passing within a short time of one another, gentle Star has found herself without a home. She is currently staying with the groomer who has known Star since she was a puppy, The groomer has a variety of animals including a 120 pound Great Dane and a little Italian Greyhound. Star is accepting of everyone she meets (both two and four-legged) and is definitely missing her Dads who showered her with lots of love and attention. She also had a FurKid brother when she was initially adopted and until he, too, passed recently –so Star is accustomed to having another fluffy pup in her home.
If you have room in your heart and home, have another sweet FurKid who likes having a companion, please be in touch. If you have her number text Marti or email her at

Dad says I’m housebroken and VERY smart. He says that I love all the things that Bichons love – like walks, treats, cuddles, and squeaky toys! I will run to catch them – and (drum roll please) I also bring them back to him!
I’m an easy and very loyal little girl. I know my commands and I am very S-M-A-R-T! The thing about me is that I’m ‘engaging.’ I like to engage my doggy foster brother and sister (to get them to play) and my Mom and Dad to get them to play—or to snuggle. Anyone who knows me instantly finds out that I am VERY convincing. And when I look at you (or them) with my big brown eyes they simply have to (you got it…) engage!
